Mobitel is known as a Mobile service provider in Sri Lanka and recently started It’s broadband services on mobile platform using 3.5G HSDPA technology. Being a subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom Limited, company is taking a big challenge in providing broadband services for the first time. Having the privilege using SLT’s international backbone and its infrastructure, Mobitel is more stable and capable of handling any demand of Internet traffic in the future. Market entry seems very promising and competitive. Mobitel’s HSDPA broadband packages are comparatively cheaper than its rival’s HSDPA package and this could be a challenge for the other wireless service providers in the country.
